Silver boxes and little dogs.

I spent last week taking a Silversmithing course at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, under the tutelage of Linda Robertson.

I learnt some great new skills, and built up some much needed courage when attempting to make metal do something I want it to, bit it doesn't.  Linda is amazingly meticulous - it was utterly inspiring to be taught by someone for whom a fraction of a millimetre out is too far!  Here's the silver box I made:

And here, for those of you who are less interested in my crafting endeavours and more in our animals, is Charlie yesterday - his first day at home!
Do your pretty face for mummy!
You wanna give me another treat, dontcha?

  1. I did that exact same course 5 years ago and have a silver box just the same!! I was really pleased with the results, but would be happy if I never saw a file again...

  2. Tell us more about the course...how long, how much, when, how often??? I would love to do a short course next summer to top up the one I'm doing at night school now :)

    Lovely box by the way!

  3. It was around £450 I think for a week long course... kinda expensive, but the quality of the equipment and teaching at CSM make it well worth it in my view. I've just soldered a new piece a la technique learnt when making my wee box and it's come out spot on (minimum clean up required - hurrah!).
